Alex Yoshii & Jannis Raptis - Guitar Duo

Alex Yoshii:
Born in Vienna to an Austrian mother and Japanese father, both classical musicians, Alex K. Yoshii chose a slightly different path and picked up the guitar at age 12. He spent about ten years studying the guitar on his own. After that he attended Vienna Music Institute and Vienna Conservatory, where he graduated in 2004.

Alex played in numerous rock bands before he started moving towards jazz and classical music during his college time. A broad musical interest led him to collaborations ranging all the way from progressive rock to chamber music; fusion to singer-songwriter folk - and back.

His current work as a soloist is situated in the wide field between modern jazz and classical music.

Jannis Raptis:
Born 1991 in Heidelberg, Germany yet of greek origin, Jannis Raptis spent most of his childhood and youth in Germany and Belgium before eventually graduating from High School in Vienna, Austria, where he studied Jazz Guitar until 2015. Besides being a passionate writer, composer and music teacher he specialized in oriental, Jazz-, Latin- and Flamenco projects, wich he fulfills and completes with all his knowledge of the hellenic melodies of his homeland. For many years Jannis Raptis worked together with artists such as Marios Anastassiou, Flaco de Nerja, Elias Meiri and Timna Brauer, Loukia Agapiou, Habib Samandi and many others, and within those collaborations many concerts were held and CD-recordings were successfully made.
