Vienna´s no. 1 monthly ROOTS & DUB night is very proud to present a legendary original soundman! For the first time in Austria, straight from London / UK, RAS DIGBY!!

RAS DIGBY has been playing sound system for over 40 years. During the early 1970s, he helped make Sir Jessus one of the most outstanding sound systems of west London, the crew’s strong links with Jamaican producers such as Blacka Morwell, Dudley ‘Ja Man’ Swaby, Channel One, and even Bob Marley and the Wailers keeping them ahead of the pack with an inexhaustible supply of exclusive dub plates. In 1974, a stockpile of hot material led to the launching of their own Sir Jessus record label, which housed the UK releases of the Morwells’ classic ‘Bit By Bit’ and Junior Byles’ ‘Know Where You’re Going,’ among others.

An amiable selector and toaster that presents his music with enthusiastic verve, Digby has remained perpetually active on the sound system circuit, being a frequent guest of the Tighten Up Crew, touring Japan with Masa Rocka Shacka and performing at various festivals throughout Europe. He has also recorded original work for Gaylads founder BB Seaton and a range of other contemporary reggae producers.
