Autozamm are carving a niche as one of this fine country’s best live acts . . . supporting Powderfinger, Siverchair, INXS, Shihad, The Exponents, Opshop and in April The Black Crowes.
The boys have paid their dues and are now searching Rock n Roll’s pockets for the key to the gate with release of their sophmore album Drama Queen in March. Drama Queen features 10 riff dunking, drama infused melody-dripping tunes of Love, Death and Threesomes.
Rumoured to be from Taihape Autozamm’s on-stage shenanigans have got to the point “where I don’t think Ill ever be able to look my mother in the eye again,” confesses Nick.
Drama Queen the album is being release on the back of their top 20 airplay hit “Killer Shoes” last year and their brand new and 6th New Zealand single “Disco” which has been instantly picked up by The Rock Network. Like Killer Shoes the video for Disco was once Put together by guitarist Mikee Carpinter and features footage from the bands 3-year history.
Recorded at York Street Studio’s in Auckland and Produced by Clint Murphy Drama Queen is a diverse selection of tracks.
“This is the first time we have written as a whole bringing everyone’s idea’s to the table and having Steven Small (Keys, Piano) now playing with us has really opened up our sound, more dynamics and space.” Beams singer Nick Major.
Not only are the boys familiar to the radio airwaves with five hit singles, they’ve also had a spate of exceptional videos, including You Don’t Know Me, where the boys punched and kicked their way to Best Video at the 2004 Kodak Video Awards.
Autozamm are: Nick Major, Mikee Carpinter, Ollie Gordon, Stephen Small and Jasper De Roos.
