Inverse Order was formed in mid 2003. Despite humble beginnings, by December 2005 they had independently released their debut single ‘Good Mourning Lullaby’. The song went on to receive major airplay around New Zealand. Most notably it was play listed on Kiwi FM for over three months and received the honor of the summer spot on The Rock Networks daily Off the Record show.
Now, after a period of relative quiet on the commercial scene, which saw Inverse Order honing their songwriting and live performance skills through frequent shows in and around the Auckland area, the band are set to release their second single “Hope For Us All?”.
The track was recorded with David Holmes (Gramsci, Autozamm, Jakob) in his Kingsland studio and mastered by Chris Chetland of Kog Studios. “Hope For Us All?” is sprawling yet deceivingly short and emotes a sense of desire and desperation in its flurry of noise and beauty.
"Hope For Us All?" has already drawn attention being featured on The Rock Networks Off the Record show for April/May. A video for the track (partially funded by NZONAIR) was filmed in the St James Theatre, Auckland and is set to accompany the single release in May. Inverse Order also intends to release an EP later in the year.
Inverse Order draws their influences from the many corners of the alternative rock sphere, from the obscure in bands like Dredg to the unmistakable sounds of Tool and Muse. The band has successfully melded a sound that is accessible yet still manages to hold dynamics and strong musicianship at its core.
